Responsabili del tirocinio:
Cesare Cecchi Pestellini (email: cesare.cecchipestellini @inaf.it)
Daniele Locci (email: daniele.locci @inaf.it)

  • lo sviluppo di modelli climatici, anche con tecniche analitiche o semi-analitiche, per descrivere gli esopianeti rocciosi;
  • il ruolo della radiazione stellare (sia fotoni sia particelle veloci), delle sorgenti di energia interna e della chimica atmosferica;
  • la transizione da atmosfere primarie a secondarie;
  • le molteplici declinazioni dell’abitabilità planetaria;
  • l’impatto di nubi e foschie atmosferiche (haze);
  • spettri planetari e osservabili;
  • le biofirme atmosferiche e la loro rivelabilità.

The project explores the climate and atmospheric evolution of rocky exoplanets, with the aim of understanding how stellar irradiation, internal energy sources and atmospheric composition shape their physical conditions and potential habitability.

The project offers opportunities for internships and thesis projects, with activities tailored to the available time, academic background and interests of each student. The activities include:

  • development of climate models, including analytical or semi-analytical techniques, to describe rocky exoplanets;
  • the roles of stellar radiation (both photons and fast particles), internal energy sources and atmospheric chemistry;
  • the transition from primary to secondary atmospheres;
  • the many flavours of planetary habitability;
  • the impact of clouds and atmospheric hazes;
  • planetary spectra and observables;
  • atmospheric biosignatures and their detectability.
